Everyday can be Thanksgiving

During the month of November, we celebrate a holiday called Thanksgiving, but we should be thankful year-round.

To be thankful means to be grateful, to be impressed with a sense of kindness received, and ready to acknowledge it. Having an attitude of gratitude should be a lifestyle.

We are called to be thankful people. Gratitude will change depression to joy, a frown to a smile, and pessimism to optimism. It has been medically proven that being a thankful, grateful person will improve your health!

We have a family tradition that at our Thanksgiving table all the family members and friends who are with us each year tell what they are thankful for. We have had so many guests throughout the years from college students to missionaries, widows, and single moms; some who just got off the street, single men and single women. It is wonderful each year to hear people verbalize their thankfulness.

Psalm 26:7 - "That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, and tell of all Your wondrous works."

I would encourage you to make a list of people and things you are thankful for. You may want to call, email, or write a note to some people who have impacted your life and let them know how thankful you are for them. Let thanksgiving and gratefulness be a daily part of your life and not reserved for just one day a year.
