My Grandson Jonathan also known as Prince Charming

Today is Jonathan's 9th birthday. A couple years ago he decided he wanted a nickname so now we call him Jono. He has an older brother and a younger sister so that makes him the middle child. He doesn't seem to struggle with his birth order because he is having too much fun enjoying life.

He is my smiley grandson and always ready to give me hugs. I think of all my grandchildren he has given me the most hugs. He is also such a grateful child. He thanks me for having him over for a sleepover, for ordering pizza, for going out to eat ice cream, or for buying him a small gift. When the boys have sleepovers at my house Jono can also get very chatty especially late at night when it is lights out. He always comes out a couple times to chat with me and we have had some profound conversations just the two of us.


His best buddies are his brother Zachary and cousin Jansen. These three grandsons are close in age and love to play video games together, Beyblades, watch Transformer, Avengers, and other guy type movies. They named themselves the three amigos a couple years ago. Jonathan's older brother Zach is 13 years old, and his cousin Jansen is 12 years old so in this group Jono is the youngest but the older boys have taken him in their guy circle.

He enjoys going fishing with his parents and has proven to be a good fisherman.  Putting Lego's together is another one of things he likes to do. When the boys come over he always asks me very sweetly if he can use my computer and goes to Lego.com and builds super heroes.

When he was in preschool and kindergarten there was a little girl and she always called him Prince Charming. One day he had to leave class early and she hollered across the room, "Bye, Prince Charming." All the class looked his way but instead of being embarrassed he just smiled and waved at her and left the room. I think she saw his sweet, kind disposition and thought those were the qualities of Prince Charming.  I agree with that little girl, he really is a prince charming!

It is so important to cherish the moments that God gives us with our grandchildren. And sometimes it is just being silly!
