The Fruit of the Spirit - Self Control
Websters defines as moderate in indulging the appetites; not self-indulgent; moderate in one's actions, speech, etc. Self-restrained. Restraint over one's own impulses, emotions, or desires. In Greek, it means, A Inward Strenght. It also means moderation in the indulgence of the appetites and passions. To be strong or powerful. Many in the world are striving to conquer outer space when they need to conquer inner space.
I Corinthians 9:24-27; Paul compares the Christian life with that of an Olympian running a race. Any man striving for mastery is, temperate and self-controlled in all things. One of the key areas to get control of in order to control your life is your tongue. (James 3) Another key area is your thought life. (Proverbs 23-7 says, As a man thinks, so is he).
