Grandchildren are Good for our Health

I have been blessed with seven grandchildren, six boys, and one girl. They range in age from 6 years old to 26 years old. They have lived in the same city so I have been able to build a relationship with each of them.

It didn't take me long to know that the grandsons love food, action movies, and digital games. My granddaughter likes dancing, pedicures, shopping, and tea parties.

I have so many wonderful memories of each season of their lives. I recently did a scrapbook on family vacations and it made me appreciate being able to see them regularly and not just a once-a-year family vacation or holiday.

If you have your grandchildren close make an effort to be in their lives. They need to be exposed to different generations. They actually like to hear some of our stories of when we were younger.

We love being in our grandchildren's lives. Here are some things we have been able to do with them.

1. Attended baby dedications, water baptism, and 1st birthday parties all the way to celebrating the oldest grandson's 26th birthday.
2.  Attend kindergartens, high school, and college graduations.
    3.  Attend all kinds of sports events with the grandsons, karate, football, basketball, baseball, and soccer, and dance recitals with our granddaughter.

    4. Celebrate holidays together. I have lots of pictures of one of our family traditions of baking and decorating sugar cookies.

    5. Attended grandparent's day at school, plays they were in, debates, senior thesis presentations. and the list goes one.....

    6. Take vacations together, recently did a scrapbook on fun times on family vacations.

    7. Do work projects together, yard work, clean up limbs after storms, work on flower beds.

    8. Play games together starting with Fish, Memory, Candy Land,  Monopoly, Sorry, Yahtzee, Clue, Risk, Domino,  etc.

    9. Sleepovers and one-on-one time with each grandchild. They would always request chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast, and roasted s' mores when it got dark.

    10. Take them on outings, here are a few of their favorite: Legos Store and Science Museum in Oklahoma City, Incredible Pizza, Oklahoma State Fair, Car shows, Silver Dollar City in Branson, Daisy Airgun Museum in Rogers, Arkansas, miniature golf, pumpkin patch, bowling, zoo and the Gathering Place in Tulsa.

Here is a short photo journey with our wonderful grandchildren! I have thousands of pictures of the grounds and it was hard to only download a few. I think these will show how important it is for grandparents to be in their life if it is possible.
