It is More Blessed to Give Than to Receive

Most of us like to be the ones on the receiving end and not always the ones giving. But God's word tells us that we will be blessed if we give. Acts 20:35 - And remember the words of the Lord Jesus that He said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive."

I wanted to have an outreach for my ladies connect groups and decided it would be nice to have a household giveaway for single moms and single ladies. We had furniture, decor, knick knacks, artwork, lamps, linens, kitchen items, scrapbook and craft items, Christmas decorations, Christian books, DVDs, CDs, and toys. Our goal was to be an answer to prayer to ladies who wanted new household decor but didn't have the finances to purchase it themselves.

Joyce, Nancy, and Ethel, these ladies are in my leadership group
Karen, another lady in my V12 group and she even came with a boot on
Cindi, my niece who donated many of the lovely items
As I shared the idea many of my ladies connect groups got on board with me and donated some very nice household items and several other ladies said they would help me with this giveaway.

Many ladies were blessed with some new items for their apartments or homes.

One lady shared with me that she was newly divorced and she and her 11 year old daughter were living with her parents until she could get a job to support them. She was also starting over when it came to household items, so we were able to bless her with many nice things.

Another lady that came was a single mom with four children. I had set out some DVDs that my younger grandchildren no longer watch. She asked me how many of the DVDs she could have and I said as many as she wanted. When I asked the age of her children I knew the younger one would enjoy the ones I set out but the older ones wouldn't. She had one son with her about 7-8 years old. I thought about it for a minute and went back in the house and brought out two bins of DVDs and told her older son to go through them and take what he would like. They were the classic Superman, Batman, and other super heros. The lady then told me she has 10 DVDs that the kids watch over and over as she doesn't have cable TV. She was beyond blessed with the giveaway. We also had some QuikTrip gift cards that she was able to use for car gas.

Another young woman was setting up her first apartment and was so excited about getting some nice decor, beautiful lamps, wooden storage bins, place mats, dish towels, pictures, photo frames, and many more lovely items.

This event was a lot of work but it was so wonderful to be able to be an answer to prayer for many single ladies and single moms who do not have it in their budgets to buy new household items.  If you feel someone else would be blessed by something you have why don't you bless them with it? You will be the one who will benefit more than them. Here is a short video of the giveaway.
